Omega-3's and the brain

50% of neuronal membrane weight is comprised of the omega-3 DHA2

Omega-3's & Inflammation

  • Drives many a disease state
  • Omega-3's are critical to dampen down inflammation in the body
  • Many chronic disease states such as Asthma, Diabetes, Alzheimer's Disease, COPD, Heart and vascular disease, Many Cancers, Rheumatic Disease states and Autoimmunity to name a few are driven by inflammation
  • Endometriosis and other disease states involving cell multiplication and spread can be driven by inflammation in the body

Omega-3's & Cell Multiplication

  • Omega-3's increase abnormal cell apoptosis (cell death)4
  • Omega-3's decrease cell proliferation through antiinflammatory effects and other pathways4
  • This is important for anyone with a history of cancer
  • This is important for disease states like Endometriosis

Omega-3's & Lung Disorders

  • Asthma and many lung diseases have inflammation as the driver of lung disease.
  • Omega-3's can profoundly decrease inflammatory processes
  • Omega-3's and N-Acetylcysteine are synergistic in action. NAC is a known mucolytic which means it loosens phlegm and this can be very beneficial in lung problems like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • NAC has significant activity against the Influenza-A virus1

Omega-3s & Nitric Oxide (NO)

  • Omega-3's can increase Nitric Oxide production 3-Fold5,6
  • N-Acetylccysteine supports Nitric Oxide (NO) formation and helps protect Nitric Oxide from free radical damage4.
  • Nitric Oxide (NO) dilates blood vessels and helps support healthy blood pressure levels.
  • L-Citrulline is an excellent promoter of Nitric Oxide through the generation of L-Arginine and it is L-Arginine that is the basis for Nitric Oxide (NO) production
L-Citrulline

Omega-3's & Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

  • As indicated above Omega-3's and in particular eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, C20: 5ω3) can increase Nitric Oxide 3-Fold or 3x5,6
  • ED often accompanies heart and blood vessel disease
  • ED is a common problem associated with prediabetes or diabetes
  • For ED often Cialis® or Viagra®   is given but these can fail if there is not enough Nitric Oxide available to start the whole biochemical cascade involved in erection
  • An excellent integrative approach will be to use L-Citrulline in combination with Cialis® or Viagra®, starting with a small amount initially
  • The following are highly synergistic in their action
L-Citrulline
N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)
Omega-3's
